Following a highly
successful first exhibit that saw almost $15,000 raised for local
charities, Bearfootin’ in Hendersonville 2004 kicked off with
Hibernation Day, Saturday, January 24. The artists and sponsors picked
up the newest members of their families and spirited them off for three
months of embellishment before the official opening on Saturday, April
24.
According to Jim
Kastetter, Executive Director of Downtown Hendersonville, Inc., all 32
bears are now sponsored with more than half of the sponsors coming from
last year’s pioneer group of twenty-six sponsors.
Nikki
Dietzel of Main Street’s The Paintin’ Shed joined with her sister
Donna Leaven to sponsor Bearly Fishin’, one of the most popular bears in
last year’s display. “It was a terrific experience, Dietzel enthused.
“What I treasured most was watching the families enjoying the bears and
talking with them about the exhibit.”
